Ask Cali Reed who should listen to her music and she will giddily reply, “Everyone!”

That’s because when Reed isn’t thinking about how to solve some of the world’s biggest problems – like climate change and systemic racism – she is playfully fusing together elements of rock, EDM, and hip-hop to craft a distinctly infectious sound that really should appeal to…well…everyone.

Hailing from a proud line of entertainers, Reed is a singer, songwriter, and producer who is dedicated to the art of character embodiment. She delivers raw emotional truth in every record and live performance, while aiming to bend the rules if not ignoring them altogether.

Now based in Vegas, Reed grew up amidst continual change, moving from city to city and repeatedly reinventing herself. The only constant in her life, it seemed, was music.

“There was a piano in almost every house I lived in growing up,” shares Reed.

“So, I started playing at a very young age. I was born knowing I wanted to be a singer…somehow. When I was 11, I joined my school band and played the flute, which was when I first learned to read music. I sang at just about every school talent show. I even sang the national anthem for some basketball games. I took a guitar class my freshman year of high school and that really fueled my passion for writing and performing.”

At the age of 16, Reed began networking with other artists and quickly discovered a new passion – music production and vocal engineering. Through vigorous self-teaching, she came to better understand the process of creating music while noticing a glaring lack of female producers. This only strengthened her desire to pursue a career in the field.

Endlessly passionate about bringing female production into the spotlight, Reed is a colorful artist who draws from countless influences including Nicki Minaj, Avril Lavigne, and Missy Elliot. Reed uses her music to embody the variety of life she experienced during her youth. With her unmistakable timbre, she can be fiercely experimental by employing combinations of bright vocals and breathy lulling.

“The feeling I get from performing is a legitimate high,” says Reed.

“Whenever I'm having a hard time, I remind myself of that feeling and I keep going. The reaction I get from audiences definitely makes me want to go beyond and let the whole world hear it. When I listen to the radio I’m always analyzing the production—cool techniques or sounds that make me want to get in the studio and try them out. I can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s this or nothing.”

Currently, Reed draws much inspiration from traveling and meeting new people, as well as from Dovble R, a versatile artist who is Reed’s partner in both life and music.

“We have a love that is so special and we do so much together that it inspires a ton of melodies and lyrics in me,” shares Reed.

Reed is currently wrapping up her first round of independent projects soon to be shared with the world. Her first single, “Ready,” is out now.
